Welcome to the Silver Spring Camera Club! If you’re a new member, this SSCC-Member-Handbook 2015 should serve as an introduction to the many benefits of joining the Club. If you’re a renewing member, this Handbook provides useful information on the the competition topics for 2015/16 and this year’s calendar, among other things.

SSCC truly offers something for everyone. If you are interested in competing and testing yourself in monthly competitions, we have some gifted photographers and great judges who offer constructive feedback that has made me a better photographer. If you’re not ready for or not interested in the competition experience, though, the Club also offers a wealth of learning and fellowship opportunities, including insightful speakers, a monthly Education Night, field trips, and a new feature introduced in 2013/14, the Open Forum, which offers members a chance to receive feedback on their photography from their fellow members in a non-judging environment.

The Club has a deep history – now celebrating its 65th anniversary – and many longtime members. In my experience, Club members are all happy to share their knowledge of and enthusiasm for photography, so reach out to them at the next meeting.

I hope that this Handbook answers your questions, but let me know if there are things that I should add to or subtract from next year’s edition.
