SSCC Board Meeting Minutes – December 22, 2016

The Board met on December 22, 2016.  The committee chair reports and other topics follow.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer – We project a year-end loss of $264 if we do not obtain any additional memberships or other income opportunities.

Program Chair – We have judges secured until the May Black & White competition, and have two letters out to potential judges for that one.  The date for the year-end event was narrowed down to June 8th.  If selected, we would need to reserve last year’s Sligo-Denis Avenue Park Activity Building venue three months before the date.

Website – Dan Sisken has stepped down and Mark Paster agreed to step up as our new Web Master.

VOTE:  The Board voted unanimously to make Mark Paster the ”Web Master”.

Competition – Larry Gold submitted recommendations for requiring competitors to be present for the judging process. The board will review the options and discuss at a later date.

Camera Club Survey – Michael prepared and summarized a survey of the cost and features of various clubs in the area to see how SSCC measures up.  There was discussion on the benefits of raising dues to attract desirable, but more expensive, speakers and enhance the workshops.

Cable Release – Dennis asked for feedback on the new format.  There was discussion of improving the website with selected links with photos from the newsletter.  Mark and Dennis will rotate articles from the newsletter onto the front page.  Dennis will start an index of articles.  There was a discussion of using Survey Monkey to poll members how they like the new format at a later date.

Website – Marite has been updating our Facebook and will soon get the login account information for our Twitter account.  She will be added to the website.

Income Opportunities:

  • Dave Mullen will use his eBay account to sell our old projector for a minimum of $150 + shipping.
  • Larry prepared an outline for selling members’ photos on the SSCC website as a form of club revenue. The board will review and discuss at a future meeting.
