Maude Svensson ~ 3 Generations of Light
I made this photo on International Lighthouse Day last summer, during a visit to a small and remote island in the Swedish archipelago. I still feel lucky to have found all three lighthouses standing together in one frame. The oldest one, tucked in the middle, is the one that moves me most. I keep thinking about the keepers who once lived and worked there, guiding ships through these unforgiving northern waters. The newest stands by the right of the frame. It was still on duty up to the 1970s, and the wife of the last lighthouse keeper still lives in the area.
