Phone Tip: Resize and Rename Images Using Lightroom Mobile

By Tanya Riseman

Here we explain how to resize, rename, and email images using only a phone and the mobile version of Lightroom. This should work on both Apple and Android phones. You don’t have to upload to a computer! Other club articles describe how to resize and rename images using a computer and the desktop versions of Lightroom, Photoshop, and Apple’s Preview. Knowing how to do this is useful for when you want to submit images for competition (fitting within an area of 1920 by 1440 pixels). Or generally sending shrunk images by email or text, to save quota and disk space in consideration of your recipients. You can’t enjoy all 5000 X 4000 pixels on a computer or phone screen anyway.

Then for Apple phones, we show how to save the image with its name preserved instead of some random IMG_XXXX.jpg file name.

Resize, name, and email your image

Save your named image on your Apple phone

Now, if you save your image to the Photos Catalog, it gets renamed something like IMG_XXXX.jpg. How frustrating.

We now show how to save the image with its name preserved, in Apple’s Files app. We assume that you have some basic understanding of how Files works – the difference between the “iCloud Drive” and “On My Phone” storage areas and how to make a folder. Start off in Lightroom.

Same as above until you get to the share page…
