I took this image in the Japanese Garden at Hillwood. It was mid-morning, and the woods were backlit by lovely morning sunlight, which highlighted the autumn colors. I used intentional camera movement to create an impressionistic look, while still attempting to retain detail in the leaves.

I saw a woman in pink posing and noticed that her companion was about to take her photo with his phone. I also noticed that the sunlight was hitting her pink dress and that compelled me to take this photo. (Handheld Settings: ISO 160, Focal Length 24mm, Aperture 4/14, and Shutter Speed to 1/125.)

From the parking lot the carousel and the stucco building Popcorn are the first things that one sees. The light on the stucco Popcorn Gallery-Arcade building was good and the architecture reminded me of the Southwest. The first task was to determine how many of the round openings on the upper deck to use. Because the openings reminded me of eyes, I picked two. The opening with the glass cubes in the background is the sly eye. Then I had to decide which roof line would be level with the horizon. Then I waited for folks to move off the deck and onto other sites such as the Spanish Ballroom. The cloud was final fundamental element.
