The Board met on October 27, 2016. The committee chair reports and other topics follow.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer – We have 66 paid members, and 11 are new members. We have collected $2,660 in dues.
Field Trip – The November 4th Field Trip will be to the Montgomery Blair High School Blazers’ sideline end zone at 6:00 p.m. This will be for night high school football. No flash or tripods allowed.
Honor Fund – The deadline is November 1, 2016
Membership – Information from the member forms for this year have been compiled. David Blass volunteered to assist in compiling the previous years’ information.
Cable Release – Various articles are planned or completed.
Other Topics:
Community involvement – Dave Mullen with Nora School is working with Wider Circle on December 3, 2016 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to provide families with professional portraits free of charge. Volunteers are needed to take photos, set up, provide lighting, and editing. Printing is to be determined. There was discussion of this a nomination for the Honor Fund. An application must be sent by November 1.
Nominations and Elections Committee – The need for a committee to look for Board and Chair positions was discussed. A committee of three people will look to gauge interest from members and recommend them to the board. Stephanie Banks and Dave Powell volunteered to serve. This will be posted as a Cable Release article to the rest of the membership. Rules for the committee and produres will be drawn up for discussion by Stephanie and Dave.
Position Procedures – These procedures are to be living documents in the archives of the club, designed so new members of the Board and Chairs can make the transition easier and to hit the ground running.
Website – We need a social media person to update our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. This person would look for content from articles and repost it. Cable Release articles should also be uploaded. This is to help with membership and drawing in younger photographers. In the interim, articles that members come across can be sent to Michael to post.
All the previous Cable Releases will be put on the Website. Dennis will select and rerelease an older Cable Release newsletter from the archives in a new Cable Release column.
Competitions – On-line competitions were discussed as a way to increase membership and or revenue. This topic will be brought up a future meeting of the club.
Income Opportunities – A board member will present the idea of selling members’ photography on the website.
