Speaker Night with Glenn Thompson: Images of Life on the Chesapeake Bay

Glenn Thompson

Please join Glenn Thompson, Maryland-born and a life-long resident, for a program on Images of Life on the Chesapeake Bay.  Glenn has a passion for the Chesapeake Bay and its waterways. Equipped with a kayak and a camera, Glenn captures images of the variety of birds and people who live and work on the Bay.  Discussing the stories behind the images, Glenn will also share his selection of gear and camera settings he uses to create his photographs.  Largely inspired by Marion E. Warren, a photographer best known for his black-and-white images of the Chesapeake Bay, Glenn remains dedicated to this project, which he will continue for years to come.

Glenn is a member of the Muddy Creek Art Guild and the Annapolis Art Alliance. He also volunteers at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater MD and is a Monitor for the Maryland Environmental Trust.  In addition, Glenn is a volunteer crew member for a Chesapeake Skipjack, the Dee of Saint Mary’s, out of Solomon’s Island.

Glenn has been a member of the Bowie Crofton Camera Club since 2013, where he was honored with their Photographer of the Year Award in 2016 and 2019. The Chesapeake Bay Alliance has used some of his images of the bay and its waterways in their calendars.
