Member Snapshot: James Ragucci

Like many new SSCC members, James Ragucci found his way to our camera club via the internet.  James had been living abroad (in Germany) for several years, and when he returned to Maryland, he was interested in joining a DC-based camera club.  SSCC turned up as one of the top results of his internet search.

James has always had a casual interest in taking pictures. But it wasn’t until he moved to Europe that he invested in a DSLR camera to capture his experiences abroad.  Once he upgraded from a point-and-shoot to a DSLR, he began focusing on improving his composition techniques and on learning how to fully utilize the features of his camera to take better pictures.  He primarily uses a Canon Rebel T3i.

One of James’ favorite photographic subjects is castles.  He fell in love with the castles of Europe and went out of his way to explore and photograph as many as he could find.  In addition, he enjoys photographing landscapes, nature and architecture.  Living abroad provided James with a wide array of countries and sites to photograph, including Marseilles, Belgium, Morocco, Hungary, Norwegian Fjords, Loch Ness, and both of Dracula’s Castles.

Now, James has returned to the US, where he works as a software developer.  He is hoping to spend some of his leisure time learning new and different ways to think about taking photos, and working towards improving his techniques and knowledge of the subject.  In addition to photography, James’ hobbies range from hiking, geocaching, exploring different technologies, and traveling.

As far as SSCC activities, James looks forward to competing in our monthly competitions and attending our field trips.

Please welcome James to SSCC!  And be sure to view James’ excellent photos (including castles!) on his webpage:  500px.com/jrfotografie.
