Overview:

Join the Silver Spring Camera Club for walking tours of some really cool neighborhoods in Baltimore.

Fell’s Point is a historic waterfront neighborhood in the southeastern area of the City of Baltimore, Maryland. It was established around 1763 and is located along the north shore of the Baltimore Harbor and the Northwest Branch of the Patapsco River. The area features many shops, including antique stores, restaurants, coffee bars, music stores, a municipal markethouse with individual stalls, and over 120 pubs. Fell’s Point includes a diversity of historic architecture. Flemish bond brick is used in some of the earliest homes, while row housing is prominent in eighteenth and early twentieth century construction. Gabled roof buildings and Victorian homes are also interspersed with other housing.

Federal Hill is named for the prominent hill that forms the south boundary of the Inner Harbor. The hillside is a lush green and serves as a community park.  On the night of May 12, 1861 following the Baltimore riot, the hill was occupied in the middle of the night by a thousand Union troops and a battery under the command of General Benjamin Butler.  During the night, Butler and his men erected a small fort, with cannon pointing towards the central business district. Their goal was to guarantee the allegiance of the city and the state of Maryland to the Federal Government under threat of force. A large flag, a few cannons, and a small monument remain to testify to this period of the hill’s history.

After the shoot we can go eat lunch nearby.
