December 7 Field Trip to Georgetown for Street Photography

Name of Trip:   Georgetown Street Photography

Overview: Georgetown is a charming area with Federal-style architecture and cobblestone streets, situated along the Potomac River. The primary commercial corridors of Georgetown are the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street, which contain high-end shops, bars, restaurants, and the Georgetown Park enclosed shopping mall. The Washington Harbour waterfront restaurants are located at K Street, between 30th and 31st Streets. Street photography subjects abound.

Time:   9:00 a.m. at the carpool (below), or 10:00 a.m. in front of Georgetown Park – see below.

Location/Address:   

Georgetown Park: 3222 M Street NW (has large garage)

Directions to site: Get on I-495 W.  Follow I-495 W across Memorial Bridge to Virginia.  Take exit to  George Washington Memorial Pkwy.  Follow George Washington Memorial Pkwy to the US-29 N/Key Bridge exit.  Continue on US-29 N/Key Bridge.  Drive to M St NW in Washington.  Turn right on M St. NW, and travel 0.6 miles to 3222 M St NW  on the right.  To get to the large Colonial parking garage, continue 1/2 block to Wisconsin Ave and turn right.  Georgetown Park Parking is the first driveway on the right.  $11/First Hour, $16/Two Hours.  Alternative: Theodore Roosevelt Island Parking (free), and walk to Georgetown Park (22 min) – 2 hour limit, but rarely patrolled.

Meet at the new carpool location in the Forest Glen Metro Parking Lot at 9:00 a.m.:

Note that the entrance to the lot is from Kimball Pl in the back, and not from Walsh View Terrace or Forest Glen Rd.

Meet on the north side of the lot, near the trees and the lot entrance.
