December 15 Field Trip to the National Zoo for ZooLights

Name of Trip:   ZooLights at the National Zoo

Overview: Join the thousands of visitors who make ZooLights a part of their annual holiday tradition. A free event, ZooLights includes live music performances, tasty winter treats and plenty of photo opportunities. More than 500,000 environmentally friendly LED lights transform the Zoo into a winter wonderland! New this year: enjoy dozens of large, glowing animal lanterns and stroll through thousands of reflecting lights as part of the interactive ⁠art exhibit called “Entre Les Rangs.”

Time:   6:00 p.m. at the carpool (below), or 7:00 p.m. at the Zoo entrance – see below.

Location/Address:   

National Zoo Entrance, 3029 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC

  • Parking: A flat-rate parking fee of $25 applies to all ZooLights attendees. Parking will be limited!
  • Metro: The Zoo is accessible via the Red Line to the Woodley Park-Zoo or Cleveland Park metro station. The Zoo entrance lies halfway between these stops, and both are a short walk from the Zoo.

Carpool location/time:

Meet at the new carpool location in the Forest Glen Metro Parking Lot at 6:00 p.m.:

 2100 Walsh View Terrace, Silver Spring, MD 20910

Note that the entrance to the lot is from Kimball Pl in the back, and not from Walsh View Terrace or Forest Glen Rd.

Meet on the north side of the lot, near the trees and the lot entrance.
