Board Meeting – January 23, 2020

The board met on January 23.  Ten board members and one guest attended.

Committee Chair Reports:

Secretary: Maude Svensson reviewed October’s Board Meeting minutes.

Treasurer: Bruce Schaefer presented the revised budget for the upcoming club year. The budget, including $200 for miscellaneous expenses, projects a $642 surplus by the end of the club year.

The total number of members is now 89, which is an increase of 4 members compared with last club year at this time of the year. 17 “new” members have joined since September, but 13 “old” members have left (or not renewed their membership). Compared with previous years, the attrition rate is down.

In order to save money, last two Board Meetings have been held outside of our ordinary meeting place at the Church, which charges $50 each time. We have not been able to find a suitable meeting place that charges less. Therefore, Andrew Rein will contact the Church to explore possibilities to re-rent our ordinary meeting place for the Board meetings.

Bruce will present the Audit report at our next Board Meeting.

The George DeBuchanne Community Service Fund has a balance of $489.

Vice President: We are still looking for a Vice President of the Club.

Other Reports:

Programming: Renee Schaefer and Karen Finkelman have contracted all speakers and judges for the club year.

Cable Release: Dennis Freeman and Sherm Edwards are about to complete and publish the CR in a week’s time.

Dennis pointed out his intention to resign at the end of this club year, that is June 30, after serving 4 years as the Newsletter Editor. Board members expressed their appreciation for Dennis’ work and discussed how to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Field Trips: No reports.

Website, Meetup, Facebook, Twitter: Up and running. Bruce pointed out that the Meetups are an important way of attracting new members.
